what do you say when ppl ask you "what do you hit" in golf?
what are they referring to? how far it goes or your score?

Usually they are wanting to know which club you hit for a particular shot. Usually it is either an approach shot or a iron shot on a par 3. That can be different for players of different abilities. My brother is two clubs longer than I am. So if he asks me if I hit a 7 iron, he's going to use a 9 iron. Driver is distinguishable from the other clubs.

They are asking you what your score is usually your average.

In my neck of the woods "what do you hit" they're referring to what club was used or going to use to hit the shot.( I tell them one more club then I used.) "whatya shoot" they're referring to the score at the end of a round.....(I'll tell the truth )

People that say "what do you hit" are probably non-golfers trying to make idle conversation about your golf score. People that say "what did you hit" are asking you what club you used on a particular golf shot.
